The AAOS Learning Innovation Lab revolutionized orthopaedic education by embracing hybrid learning and virtual models to maximize engagement and retention.

Insurance and Coding Victories

AAOS advocacy aided in successfully halting the implementation of detrimental Blue Cross Blue Shield policy changes related to the Modifier 25 policy. These actions prevented a 50% reimbursement reduction for certain evaluation and management codes with same-day surgical procedures. 

Advancing Diversity in Orthopaedics

AAOS worked throughout 2024 to promote and encourage diversity within membership and leadership. Through collaboration with specialty societies, town hall forums, a Governance Diversity Report and the AAOS IDEA Grant program, AAOS helps ensure top quality orthopaedic care for the widest and most diverse patient population. 

Orthos Connect Through Community Groups

One of several enhancements made to the AAOS Membership App in 2024 was the introduction of HIPAA-compliant Community Groups, designed to connect members with like-minded interests and specialties.

Expanded Membership Categories

To expand its ability to serve more members of the musculoskeletal community, AAOS introduced new member categories including Medical Students, Allied Member – Orthopaedic Team, and Affiliate Orthopaedic Surgeons.
