Orthopaedic Infections: The Last Frontier- Will focus on current state of the art of infection prevention and treatment in total joint arthroplasty and fractures. Infection continues to be one of the most common postoperative complications in these two specialties. There is still significant room for improvement in infection prevention as some injuries still have a >10 % infection rate and treatment is unsuccessful with recalcitrant infection in up to 30% of patients. We will also hear future advances that will hopefully decrease infection rates and improve our availability to eradicate infections.
