From Our Annual Report
Removing Barriers to Timely Access to Care
AAOS worked to remove barriers to the prior authorization process by drafting a letter to Congress in support of the Gold Card Act of 2023 (H.R. 4968), which could exempt physicians from the approval process based on their approval rate in the preceding year.
Addressing Violence in the Workplace
The Safety From Violence for Healthcare Employees Act (SAVE Act) was reintroduced in the House of Representatives and introduced for the first time in the Senate in 2023 due to the work of AAOS.
Orthopaedic Advocacy Week
Physician leaders came together during the 2023 Orthopaedic Advocacy Week to complete over 900 letters to policymakers and help the OrthoPAC raise over $200,000.
Diversity in Orthopaedics
$200,000 in grant funding was awarded to organizations whose initiatives focus on the elimination of bias and the promotion of DEI within orthopaedic surgery.
Enhancing the Registry User Experience
The AAOS Registry Program enhanced the support options for sites designated with or pursuing advanced certifications, made significant updates to the RegistryInsights® dashboards and more.
