Charles Craig Satterlee, MD, FAAOS, named chair of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ Board of Specialty Societies

ROSEMONT, Ill. (March 30, 2020)—Kansas City orthopaedic surgeon, Charles Craig Satterlee, MD, FAAOS, was named chair of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ (AAOS) Board of Specialty Societies (BOS) today.

The BOS brings together the leaders of musculoskeletal societies to address advocacy, continuing medical education, research, and residency and fellowship issues. It also serves as an advisory entity to the AAOS Board of Directors and promotes unity and collaboration between specialty societies and the Academy.

Dr. Satterlee specializes in injuries of the shoulder and elbow at Orthopaedic Health of Kansas City, where he also serves as president. He received his medical degree and general orthopaedic training from the University of Missouri-Columbia and subsequently was the senior Anne C. Kane Fellow in shoulder and elbow surgery at the New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. He has had scientific articles and chapters published in multiple orthopedic journals and books and has given scientific and instructional presentations regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Dr. Satterlee has served on numerous AAOS committees and councils, including the Council on Research and Quality and Council on Advocacy. He currently serves on the AAOS PAC executive committee, Council on Education and the AAOS Board of Directors. He also held several roles at the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, where he most recently served as the Secretary/Treasurer, The Missouri State Orthopedic Association, The Metropolitan Medical Society and several other medical organizations. He has also served on the boards of several business entities in the Kansas City area.

Dr. Satterlee has four children and resides in the Kansas City Metropolitan area, with his wife Brenda.
